Cap Hill Kush

September 24, 2018 Posted by Options Cannabis Company

A relatively new strain to the cannabis scene, Cap Hill Kush is making waves throughout Wheat Ridge for its pleasant Indica-like effect and sweet, citrus flavor. A product of the head grower at Options Medical Center, this strain is a mix of Strawberry Chem, Girl Scout Cookies, and a third mystery phenotype.

With so many dispensaries prioritizing “mainstream” cuts that are popular, finding something rare in today’s market seems like an overwhelming challenge. It’s tough to find a dispensary willing to risk the time and effort in advanced breeding programs that may or may not yield top-shelf results and usually signifies tremendous confidence in their grow team. Unique and exclusive strains bring a sense of nostalgia for the early days of cultivation when cuts were shared quietly among friends. Compared to prior years, it is slightly easier to find rare strains, and the joys of discovering them are still alive and well.

Why has Cap Hill Kush become popular?

Cap Hill Kush has quickly become a common name at Options Medical Center in Wheat Ridge thanks to a heavy yield and a natural resistance to native pests and pathogens. The buds develop into large and heavy colas that trim down into thick, frosted nugs of deliciousness. Flower time runs between 65 and 75 days for this heavy Indica-dominant hybrid, with most of the bulk being added in the later days.

By putting up some big numbers on the charts, Cap Hill Kush has more than earned the hype and excitement that’s quickly building around the strain. Testing for THC averages well into the mid-20 percent range, while some tests are pushing into the low-30s. High percentage strains may be a saving grace for those who rely on large amounts of THC each day. However, newer smokers and those who indulge less frequently should plan to take it slow and avoid the bong until they are familiar with the effects.

As if to perfectly complement the potency, the flavors are equally on-point. Taking strong influence from its Sativa lineage, gentle and sweet citrus notes accent the perfectly blended earthy tones to provide a well-balanced profile that’s full and rich without being overwhelming.

While the flavors and potency may have come from the Sativa side, the effects of this strain are predominantly Indica-leaning. Not only does that make for an interesting and different flower, but it also helps add versatility regarding plant-based medicine. Many patients have experienced intense calming and relaxing qualities that help with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and insomnia. A high level of THC can also assist with more intense ailments often accompanied by nausea and lack of appetite.
