From your favorite marijuana enthusiasts at Options Cannabis, here’s the Valentine’s Day gift guide for stoners that you never knew you needed – but now, you won’t be able to gift shop without! We’ve rounded up all our favorite stoner gift ideas, including a great mix of products and cannabis-themed experiences for your sweetheart. So, whether you’re hoping to find inspiration for DIY stoner gifts or something quick, easy, but totally thoughtful, we have you covered.
There’s no need to stress when it comes to gift ideas for Valentine’s Day, because we’ve put together a variety of options with something for everyone. Our list includes stoner gifts for him, her, and even yourself, as well as some inspiration for stoner Valentine’s cards. And best of all, these DIY Valentine’s Day gifts are as creative as they are easy.
Instead of the usual variety of caramels and truffles, put together a delicious assortment of cannabis candies and chocolates – and don’t forget the heart-shaped box! Buy a classic box of Valentine’s chocolates, then remove all of the candy (you can even eat it yourself, if you want!). Then, tuck a cannabis edible in each of the spots for a tasty treat your stoner sweetie will love.
Or, if your Valentine is more of a concentrates kind of girl or guy (or flower, cannabis vapes, etc.), customize the box accordingly. Nugs, shatter, and even bits of bud make for a fabulous gift that just keeps giving.
Flowers for Valentine’s Day is a long-time tradition, but you can put a fun spin on this classic and make it a stoner-friendly gift. Pick out a pretty bouquet from your local florist or store, then place cannabis flower throughout the arrangement.
If you have cannabis flowers still on the stem, you can easily incorporate them into the bouquet. Or, if you’re working with flower from the dispensary, try wrapping each bundle of bud in clear cellophane, tying it with ribbon, and then adding it to your floral bouquet.
Cannabis topicals, such as lotions, creams, and even massage oils, can be the perfect gift for someone that’s in need of some extra TLC. Maybe your sweetheart is a self-care queen/king, or maybe they need some encouragement to take a little time for themselves – whatever the case, a gift basket filled with cannabis topicals can be exactly what the doctor ordered.
For an added bonus, include a few cannabis-infused sweet treats to really elevate their spa-style experience to a new high.
For the couple that likes to keep it simple, a thoughtful card can be more than enough. Get in touch with your inner artist and make a homemade card, or choose one that you know will make your sweetie smile. Then, tuck a premium pre-roll inside the card for a surprise gift that they’re sure to love.
Nobody knows your Valentine better than you do, so why not go with a gift that combines all their favorite cannabis-centric things? Maybe they want to try vaping cannabis, or perhaps they’re a loyal lover of cannabis gummies. Whatever they like, pick out some top-rated products and create a DIY gift basket of your own.
At Options Cannabis, we take pride in being the Colorado dispensaries known for being among the best in the business. On Valentine’s Day – and every other day of the year – we aim to make your dispensary shopping experience as fun, friendly, and enjoyable as possible.

Sativa strains are in high demand because they are usually associated with energizing and uplifting effects. Popular among both recreational cannabis customers and medical marijuana patients alike, sativas are described as being the best daytime cannabis. Many associate the species with hiking, exercise, and socializing. The effect of a sativa strain is often referred to as a “head high” because many people report feeling creative cerebral effects after consumption. While there are many positive effects to a sativa high, some people experience discomfort for a variety of different reasons.
Many of the premium sativa strains found in Colorado dispensaries today are also known for having incredibly high levels of THC. This is exactly what some people want from their cannabis experience, but others have reported occasional unwanted side effects from sativa strains. It’s easy to overdo it with any cannabis products, especially for those who have a high sensitivity to THC.
Keep in mind that the potential side effects listed below are largely based on anecdotal evidence that people share about their own stories. Some people also report feeling the effects below with indica and hybrid strains, too, but these side-effects are more common with sativa strains.
For many consumers, cannabis is the answer when they want to relax and unwind, but some have reported having the opposite experience as well. Some people say that too much THC can make them feel anxious or paranoid. Feelings of anxiety or paranoia are especially common amongst people who aren’t used to the effects of cannabis or are new to it altogether.
It’s not uncommon for someone to experience their mind-racing and the intrusion of unwanted thoughts while high. A large amount of THC can also cause your heart to race, which can be a physically unpleasant experience. While the side-effects of paranoia and anxiety are more common for consumers who have anxiety on a day-to-day basis, anyone can have this experience with sativas.
There are thankfully some helpful tips to avoid or reduce these types of unwanted side effects:
While many indica strains have the reputation of making people fall asleep, sativas are intended to do the opposite. While you might welcome the creative effects of sativas, this probably isn’t what you want when it’s time for bed. If you find yourself getting frustrated because you have trouble sleeping after smoking cannabis, consider giving yourself more time between your cannabis session and your bedtime. Many people also like to choose other strains and completely avoid sativas at night.
Smoking cannabis might lead to a temporary drop in blood pressure that can make you feel lightheaded. Some say this is especially noticeable when standing up suddenly after spending some time relaxing. If you start to feel dizzy or lightheaded, make sure you can sit down and avoid doing anything that may be dangerous. It is never a bad idea to stay hydrated while consuming cannabis.
The munchies are more commonly associated with indica strains, but they can sneak up you any time you’ve had a lot of cannabis. Some people actually use cannabis to induce their appetites while others hate getting the munchies because it makes it harder to stick to a healthy diet. The best way to avoid unwanted snacking is to only surround yourself with healthy options or distract yourself with other activities.
Even experienced cannabis connoisseurs might get uncomfortably high from time to time. If you start to feel like you’ve had too much THC, here is some popular advice from avid cannabis users that you might want to try:
When reading the reported side effects listed above, it might not make sativas sound very appealing. The good news is that most people report that those unintended effects are rare for them. More commonly, people say they feel happy, uplifted, and inspired after smoking a sativa strain. Cannabis is a personal experience, though, as it is largely based around each individual’s brain chemistry. It is encouraged by industry professionals to focus on the cannabis strains that appeal to you instead of following others. Know your own limits and stay within them rather than trying to catch up to someone with a higher tolerance.
If the positive aspects of a sativa experience sound like the type of high you’re looking for, Options has a wide variety of premium sativa strains available for you. If you’re looking to stay awake but want to avoid feelings of anxiety, the budtenders at Options can walk through what strains might be right for you. Visit either of our dispensaries in Wheat Ridge or Boulder to find fresh strains from the best growers in Colorado. Our Wheat Ridge dispensary serves both recreational cannabis customers and medical marijuana patients, while our Boulder dispensary is only for recreational cannabis. Come visit either location today, or place an order online for maximum convenience!

If you’re a cannabis enthusiast, it’s a blast to shop for your fellow cannabis lovers. There are so many gift options, though, that it can feel overwhelming when it comes time to choose something. This decision is especially difficult if you don’t partake yourself, since you may not be familiar with all of the products. Whether you’re shopping for a big holiday, a birthday, or just because here are some of the best cannabis gifts right now.
Storing cannabis is absolutely critical as far as keeping it fresh and flavorful. Most marijuana enthusiasts have a system for storing their flower, but few solutions are as thoughtful as the one offered by Evergreen. Evergreen humidification pods are attractive, functional, and easy to use. This product will help your loved one keep their herbs fresh and organized, especially since it’s easy to label these jars with strain information every time you add different flower.
You can visit Evergreen’s website to browse their entire lineup of products. Choose a single storage solution, a variety pack, and other merchandise depending on your budget and who you’re shopping for. You can even get a gift card if you’re not exactly sure which storage solution would be best. A single jar is $15, and there are plenty of other options to browse as well.
There’s a good chance that the cannabis enthusiast in your life already has a grinder, but they probably don’t have one like this. This top of the line grinder from Kannastor is attractive, durable, and capable. It has removable screens and two interchangeable graters, which allows you to pick the coarseness of your grind. This is ideal for the sophisticated smoker who is always trying to match the grind to the smoking method.
This grinder is made out of hardened aluminum, which means it will last for a long time. This gift will be appreciated because it’s so flexible. The weed lover in your life will appreciate the large size and storage options around the home. If they want to take this grinder on the go, they can always adjust it down to a more portable size. This might be the most practical grinder ever made, and you can buy it on Amazon.
There are all kinds of affordable grinders out there, but this may be the most luxurious. It’s more expensive than the Kannastor mentioned above and doesn’t have all the same features, but it does have one thing that makes it unique. This smart grinder automatically senses the material to determine which type of grind is most appropriate.
The recipient of this gift can enjoy ground cannabis at the push of a button, and that isn’t where the fun ends. If they like to smoke cones, this grinder can automatically funnel the ground material into a pre-rolled cone. Cannabis enthusiasts will be blown away as they watch the material get filled directly into a waiting paper. You can buy it here.
This smell-proof case from Stashlogix will help the cannabis lover in your life keep their stash discreet. This bag includes a special lining that traps odors to help maintain some privacy. Something like this is a must-have item for anyone who worries about stinking up their closet, drawer, or car.
This carrier includes an integrated three-digit lock to keep unwanted eyes and hands out of the bag. The inside contains adjustable pads to keep everything safe and secure, too. There’s even a poking tool included. If the price tag of $69 is a little bit high for your budget, you can save some money by choosing a smaller version of the bag.
Buy the TokBud for a cannabis enthusiast who likes to live life on the go. It comes with eight different tools to cover all of the basics, from cleaning a pipe to preparing materials for an impromptu smoke session. This handy tool includes a poker, a press, and a scraper. There’s a holder for screens, a spool for a wick, and even a slot for a mini BIC lighter. There’s even a small grinder and a storage tray so you can prepare material on the go without spilling it or lugging a larger grinder around.
Often deemed one of the best ways to consume cannabis, glass pipes come in all shapes and sizes. At Options there is a wide variety of glass available, from smaller one-hit chillums to more ornate and colorful pieces. Average pricing can range from $6 for a more practical glass piece with a smaller bowl size to $30 for a vibrant decorative piece. Larger glass pipes are more ideal for sharing with others, but smaller ones are perfect for smoking alone. When purchasing, consider factors like durability, ease of use, and how difficult it will be to clean.
If the cannabis lover in your life already has plenty of glass pipes, they probably need a way to keep their collection clean. That’s where Grunge Off Super Soaker comes into play. This product uses an exclusive cleaning formula to get glass pipes sparkling clean. Clean pipes don’t just look better; they also make for tastier smoking experiences. Order some from Amazon.
The Lynx Eden may be the best dry herb vaporizer for under $100. This versatile device is small enough to go just about anywhere, and it’s incredibly easy to operate. It even comes with lava plates, which allows the cannabis enthusiast to add concentrates to their flower if they so desire. Choose from a variety of colors depending on the recipient’s style, then buy one from the Lynx website.
This is the most expensive item on the list, but it’s a premium option when you have a large budget. The Volcano tabletop vaporizer is largely considered to be the best in the business. This hybrid can be enjoyed in two ways:
These devices heat quickly and precisely. For cannabis connoisseurs who want to bring the best out of their flower, this is one of the most state of the art ways to optimize the experience. Buy one from Storz & Bickel.
When shopping for an avid cannabis lover, sometimes the best option is cannabis itself. For those with lower tolerances, a microdose edible such as the Sums sublinguals are sure to get them high with ease. When shopping for someone who needs a higher dosage of milligrams, the Coda chocolate bars are sure to provide an excellent experience full of gourmet flavors. If edibles aren’t their thing, you could always try some high-quality concentrates processed by Green Dot Labs or Colorado Supply Company. Bubble Blunts and Bubble Joints from The Flower Collective are a local favorite that are sure to elevate your loved one to a brand new height. There is a product out there for every tolerance level- the budtenders at Options are always happy to walk customers through them.

Recreational marijuana is legal here in Colorado, leading many people to wonder if there’s any benefit to medical marijuana. Marijuana prices are one of the most significant differences between medical and recreational marijuana products. Some people also believe that medical marijuana patients have access to better products, but that isn’t necessarily the case. The truth is that both medical and recreational marijuana are held to the same rigorous standards for quality.
Even so, there are some slight differences in the products available to medical marijuana patients and recreational marijuana customers. The primary difference is that some select medical marijuana products may offer higher cannabinoid concentration levels than you can get from recreational marijuana. Even so, the primary difference is still related to price. If you’re considering the benefits of medical marijuana versus recreational marijuana, the most crucial consideration will probably come down to cost.
The price of marijuana is the most significant reason so many people choose medical marijuana over recreational marijuana in Colorado. The difference in costs all comes down to tax rates. Here in Colorado, medical marijuana is subjected to the state sales tax of 2.9%. Recreational or retail marijuana, on the other hand, is subject to a 15% sales tax in addition to a 15% excise tax. Since medical marijuana is exempt from these higher tax rates, it ends up being much less expensive.
It’s important for people to keep in mind that there are some costs associated with getting and retaining a medical marijuana card. In other words, the decreased taxes may not necessarily be worth it for someone who only buys a very small amount of marijuana. For people who buy large amounts of cannabis, though, getting certified as a medical marijuana patient may help them save a lot of money.
Other than the taxes, there aren’t very many differences in marijuana prices. Medical products and recreational products generally cost about the same before taxes are applied. It’s only when an order gets rung up, and the taxes are applied that people start to notice big differences in marijuana costs between medical and recreational products. It’s also important to keep in mind that local taxes may vary throughout the state.
The other important thing to consider is that there may be slight differences between some medical marijuana products and their counterparts in recreational cannabis dispensaries. For one thing, medical patients often have high standards as far as what they’re looking for in products. This is most visible in the selection of products that have both CBD and THC. Medical marijuana dispensaries typically offer a wider selection of different products with ratios of both of these two main cannabinoids.
The other big difference between products is that you may find more concentrated products in medical marijuana dispensaries. For example, recreational dispensaries in Colorado only sell edibles that contain 100mg of THC or less. Medical dispensaries in Colorado, on the other hand, often sell edibles that contain much more THC. The rules governing these types of products are designed to ensure that medical marijuana patients can get high enough THC concentrations to address their specific medical conditions.
Legislators in Colorado don’t necessarily want recreational marijuana customers to have access to such high levels of THC. That’s why these products are only available for medical marijuana patients. If you want to have access to edibles with very high THC levels, you’ll need to qualify for the medical marijuana program. To do so, you’ll have to visit a licensed physician to be approved for medical cannabis.
Another big difference is that you must be at least 21 years of age to buy recreational marijuana. If you qualify for medical marijuana, you may make purchases even if you’re not 21 years old yet. Patients who are at least 18 years old can qualify for medical marijuana in Colorado. Additionally, younger patients may be able to qualify as long as they have parental consent and two physicians’ support.
In addition to the things listed above, medical marijuana patients do have some additional rights regarding the following:
No matter whether you’re a medical marijuana patient or a recreational marijuana customer, it’s important to know when you’re getting the best deal on cannabis. Even relatively small price differences can start to add up a lot over time.
With that said, the cheapest marijuana in Colorado isn’t always the best deal. Consider things like the quality of your product and the cannabinoid levels in addition to the overall price. Some dispensaries offer very low prices, but they don’t sell the best cannabis products.
At Options Medical Center, we offer one of the best combinations of price and quality in the state for our flower.
Regardless of which menu you’re shopping from, you can count on finding premium cannabis products at fair, affordable prices. We’re able to ensure this because we work with the best growers, cannabis product producers, and vendors in Colorado. Check our dispensary menus today to find the products that appeal to you.
Oil, oil, oil! Everywhere you look these days, there is cannabis oil, CBD oil, THC oil, and many other varieties on store shelves. Colorado marijuana dispensaries are up to their ears in all different kinds of oils. People buy various oils for different reasons, but what is the difference between hemp oil and cannabis oil? Which products are right for you?
To begin with, it’s essential to understand the difference between hemp oil and marijuana oil. Both are technically kinds of cannabis oil, but the distinction between hemp and marijuana is significant here in the United States. Hemp is what we call cannabis that has no more than 0.3% THC, and it’s legal on a federal level for enjoyment in every state.
Marijuana, on the other hand, is how we refer to cannabis that has more than 0.3% THC, often much more. It’s still illegal on a federal level, though some individual states have already legalized it. For example, it’s legal for medical patients and adults of more than 21 years to purchase marijuana here in Colorado, but the same can’t be said for many other states.
One key aspect of help seed oil that has attracted attention; hemp seed oil has a rich profile of fatty acids, nutrients, and valuable bioactive vitamins and minerals. The oil is well-known for being nutrient-rich and for its general health benefits and is composed of healthy fatty acids, protein, and carbohydrates. People use hemp seed oil to cook as well as a supplement for nutrition in food. This is due to the 3:1 ratio of linoleic (LA) and a-linolenic acid (LNA), two essential polyunsaturated fatty acids that particularly benefit the heart.
Another important distinction to make is between oil made from hemp flower and hemp seed oil. Hemp seed oil is produced by pressing hemp seeds, and it doesn’t use any actual cannabis flower. While hemp seed oil is high in fatty acids and some other nutrients, it doesn’t contain any cannabinoids. That means it won’t deliver either CBD or THC, and it definitely won’t get you high. By contrast, other types of cannabis or marijuana oil can contain cannabinoids and be further broken down into THC oil and CBD oil.
Before you can fully appreciate the differences between the various types of cannabis oil, it’s essential to know about cannabinoids. The two most popular cannabinoids are CBD and THC, and most cannabis oils are designed to deliver at least one of the two of these. Cannabinoids are organic compounds that occur naturally in the cannabis plant. When people talk about the effects of cannabis, they’re talking about how cannabinoids interact with the human body.
The reason cannabinoids are relevant to humans is that we already have endocannabinoid systems within our bodies. The cannabinoids can behave similarly to the endocannabinoids our body produces naturally and bind to our endocannabinoid system. CBD and THC interact with the system in different ways, which is why they’re associated with such different experiences.
As we continue to study cannabis and the ways it interacts with the human body, we’re learning more about other cannabinoids. So far, we already know a lot about THC and CBD. Now that more places are starting to legalize cannabis, it should get easier to study this place and come up with well-researched answers about the effects of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. As it relates to buying cannabis oils, it’s important to know the differences between CBD and THC because these are still the most popular cannabinoids by far.
THC is short for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, which is why we like to shorten it to three simple letters. Found in marijuana, this cannabinoid is responsible for the feeling of being “high.” Its psychoactive properties are intoxicating, which is why so many people like to enjoy marijuana recreationally. Even though recreational marijuana is becoming increasingly popular here in Colorado, we still have plenty of medical marijuana patients looking for marijuana oil with high THC levels.
Cannabidiol, known as CBD for short, is not known for producing psychoactive or intoxicating effects. That’s a big part of why it’s already been legalized on a federal level in the United States. Most of our customers who buy CBD oil have no intention of using it for recreational purposes. Instead, most people buy CBD oil because they’re looking to inspire a general sense of wellness with a natural product.
Part of the reason so many people like cannabis oils with both of the two main cannabinoids is that they seem to belong together. Some of our customers say that they’re less likely to feel overwhelmed by THC when they also have some CBD in the mix. Others have said that their experiences are even more intense when combining CBD and THC, though. Ultimately, the choice between marijuana oil and hemp oil is a personal choice. Feel free to ask one of our budtenders about all of our oils to see which one is most appealing.
Now that you understand CBD and THC’s key differences, it should be pretty clear why there’s such a big difference between THC oil and CBD oil. People typically feel high after consuming THC oil, while there are no such intoxicating effects from CBD oil. People buy CBD oil for various reasons, too, especially when they want to enjoy cannabis products without the intoxicating effects.
CBD oil is a common choice for people who are drug tested for work, or who have to drive or do other activities for which they cannot be intoxicated. Since there’s such a big difference between these types of cannabis oils, your Colorado dispensary should clearly label their different products containing CBD, THC, or both. It’s possible to find pure CBD oil or pure THC oil, but many types of cannabis oil include some ratio of both of these two cannabinoids.
Since hemp is legal on a federal level in the United States, and marijuana is not, CBD oil must be produced with hemp to be federally legal. Even marijuana-derived CBD oil that has been processed to isolate the CBD and remove THC wouldn’t be considered legal by the federal government. When you buy cannabis oil at a dispensary, it may be derived from either hemp or marijuana. In some cases, it may even be from some combination of both categories of the cannabis plant.
As a general rule, you can expect marijuana oil to contain THC, though that isn’t always the case. Hemp-derived cannabis oil, on the other hand, won’t contain high levels of THC since hemp itself cannot have THC levels of more than 0.3%.
Here at Options Medical Center, we pride ourselves on working with the best vendors in Colorado to get premium cannabis oils on our dispensary menu. Visit us in Wheat Ridge or Boulder, and you’ll find a wide selection of THC oil, CBD oil, and cannabis oils that contain a combination of both cannabinoids.

Although it is hard to pinpoint exactly how many strains of cannabis there are around the world, experts agree that there are at least 779 known strains. One that is rapidly increasing in popularity is Grapefruit Sour Diesel. This quick guide will help you decide if it might be right for you.
Grapefruit Sour Diesel is a hybrid, Indica-dominant cannabis strain. Despite being an Indica leaning strain, it is known for providing users with better mental focus, which is more commonly associated with Sativa strains. The hybrid is comprised of NYC Diesel and Grapefruit, and the plants show their Indica traits mostly when they are growing. It has a THC level ranging from 20 percent to 25 percent and creates strong effects.
Grapefruit is a Sativa strain that is known for its stress-relieving properties while NYC Diesel has won the High Time Cannabis Cup on more than one occasion and is known for being good to use at social gatherings. Their hybrid strain, Grapefruit Sour Diesel, is known for making users feel relaxed, talkative and euphoric.
Medically, Grapefruit Sour Diesel is known to help people who suffer from fatigue, inflammation, and pain. This is because of the higher potency of an Indica strain in the hybrid. The strain is popular among people who suffer from chronic muscle spasms or joint pain. It is also helpful for people who suffer from clinical depression or anxiety.
In addition to the euphoric effects, many people love Grapefruit Sour Diesel because of its appealing fragrance and flavors. The strain’s scent is a unique blend of the sweet and sour aroma from the Grapefruit parent and the fuel scent common in NYC Diesel. Regarding flavor, Grapefruit Sour Diesel avoids tasting like the fuel its fragrance is known for. Instead, the flavor is the same sweet and sour citrus you’d expect if you were eating an actual grapefruit.

Since the legalization of recreational cannabis in Colorado, the quality and selection of products have improved significantly. The variety of ways to consume has also increased with the expansion into concentrates, edibles, and oils.
Cannabis concentrates have grown to become a pillar of the industry, that’s why at Options Medical Center we pride ourselves in dealing with only the best extractors in Colorado, one of those being Nomad Extracts who processes our in-house shake and trim into wax and shatter. Nomad’s extraction process uses solvents to strip the cannabis plant of its trichomes, which are then converted into wax or shatter with ‘concentrated’ amounts of cannabis properties. The extraction process also allows for the preservation of natural terpenes and medicinal properties.
Because Nomad uses our in-house shake and trim, the superior quality you see in the flower on our shelves translates directly into the wax and shatter that Nomad processes for us. This is illustrated by the alluring color and scent of the final products Nomad sends us. With their state-of-the-art laboratory, Nomad Extracts sets the bar for quality concentrates.
If you’re looking for the best of the best, look no further than Options Medical Center. We are passionate about everything cannabis and always strive to keep a wide selection of strains and superior brands on our concentrate shelves. CSC produces only the cleanest and most pure concentrates using a variety of extraction methods:
Shatter, sap, budder, crumble and sugar created from only the finest cured buds in Colorado. Distilled solvent blends are used to capture cannabinoids in their peak state providing a product with a 70-90% cannabinoid concentration.
Sauce, sugar, sap, and fractions extracted from fresh buds using cold solvents to preserve both cannabinoids and terpenes. CSC’s award-winning live resin is known for being both potent and flavorful, with the high terpene content preserving the complex flavors and aromas of the cannabis. This state of the art process results in a concentrate with 80-90% cannabinoid potency.
CSC has developed a state-of-the-art update to the classic method of producing bubble hash. Ice, water, and agitation are used to separate trichromes from buds, which are then filtered through a series of micron screens. Finally, the glands are freeze dried to eliminate any remaining moisture. The result is a resin of the highest quality with a potency of 70-90% cannabinoids.
A favorite among the health conscious, live rosin is the closest thing to an organic concentrate. The active resin is extracted using low heat and pressure and filtered to separate any contaminants. What remains is an all-natural, flavorful concentrate containing 70-90% cannabinoids.
Between their patented ceramic technology to the highly refined distillate within, CSC vape cartridges are a work of art and the new standard for cannabis vaping in Colorado.
